A new one we recently found...we had no idea! What a delight!

At 8:30 the class started and we arrived with little time to spare, quickly putting on our dancing shoes. It was the first time I was professionally exposed to the playful steps of salsa.

The nationally recognized instructor of Studio 6 Ballroom, Natasha Thayer, pressed play on the stereo and the room filled with Latin music and the students began to dance. My partner Nathan Mead and I had little, if any, idea of what we were doing.

As Natasha made her way down the line of couples helping them with turns and spins that were much more advanced than we were, I tried desperately to master the simple front back step. When she finally reached Nate and me it was clear that we were in need of direction.

Not long after she taught us our first few spins, we had forgotten that we did not know the Salsa steps and started to have a little fun with our own fresh moves.

After the class, the dance floor was opened to the students and community to practice and show off their moves.

Natasha Thayer is the master coach at Studio 6 Ballroom and a national titleholder. As an internationally known coach and competitor, Thayer has traveled the United States competing and coaching. She is a colleague to "Dancing With the Stars" professionals and hopes to make her studio a place where people come and hang out with people they meet who share the same interests.

As stated in the brochure, "Everyone involved in the making of Studio 6 wanted to create a fun evening dance venue for all to enjoy and a studio where one could find the best quality dancing and instructing in one place." Studio 6 has reached its goal.

Natasha is now entertaining the idea of expanding the studio with plans to open the upper level of Studio 6 Ballroom to adults 21 and up as a bardining area.

Studio 6 currently offers classes and an open dance floor for dance enthusiasts of all ages. In the back of the studio, there are couches and a refreshment area and the television is constantly playing dance videos. The studio also offers an art gallery and an atmosphere like that of your own living room.

So if you find yourself sitting around next Friday night, trying to figure out what to do, hit up Studio 6 because you will not regret it.
